Baseline Discounts
A Baseline Discount is the backbone of GangBucks. It is the fundamental difference between us and the rest of the "daily deal" sites.
All of the corresponding businesses in the GangBucks network agree to give a discount to all of the members each and every time they
use services and products. The baseline discount has to be at least 10% and has to be for the majority of products and services.
For example, when you go to a fancy restaurant each month with your family, you receive 15% off the entire meal.
Time Urgent Discounts
Time Urgent Discounts are a great add on to other types of discounts and are time sensitive. This is where members can receive
terrific deals from businesses that are offered for a short amount of time and often on the "first come, first serve" basis.
A 4 pm haircut for 60% discount, a happy hour from 4 to 6 for 20 people at 50% discount on drinks and snacks, a yoga class at 7 pm
today for 80% discount, and much more. Members may set their account to be notified on certain businesses or categories, or
check the monstrous filter to pay attention to the Time Urgent Discounts.
Old School Discounts
Old School Discounts are just like the typical "Daily Deal Site" promotions. Discounts typically run for a 24 hour period,
and are in limited quantity. We refer to them as "Old School" because this was the original discount style that everyone was
familiar with purchasing. This style of discount usually promotes a larger discount (25% to 80%) off of the normal price of
a service or product. An example of this discount would be "50 massages at 50% discount to all members. When you discover
an "Old School" discount that you would like to take advantage of, just contact the merchant that is promoting and it make
your purchase. For those Living Social and Groupon fans, here is your chance to take advantage of the same style of
promotions within your network. It feels good to be loyal to your club.
Escalating Discounts
An escalating discount is designed to reward members for frequency of visits to a particular business during a given month.
It is an add on to the baseline discount. It may be used for a particular service or product, or on the entire bill at
a business. An example would be a restaurant has a baseline discount of 15% during the month of October and runs an
escalating discount on all services, (total check) to members. The escalating deal is 15% for the first visit, 20% on the
second visit, and 25% on the third visit. This encourages members to keep coming back during the month for the greater
savings. In order to make sure that members don't abuse this style of discount, there has to be a bare minimum purchase
amount established. You wouldn't want someone to buy a beer at your restaurant three days in a row and then come in for
a $300 meal on day four.
Trigger Point Discounts
Trigger point discounts are another way to reward the members that deserve it. Instead of the "Old School
group buying model", where anyone and everyone could get 50 percent off of the normal price, businesses set a
trigger point and reward members graciously for hitting it. It makes a lot of sense. Reward the customers
that spend a certain amount in a given month. Once the member spends more than that amount, he/she begins
to receive larger discounts. For example, let's say a restaurant owner would like you to spend more than $150
in a given month. Once you hit the $150 mark and spend another dollar, you begin to receive 50% off of everything.
This way, business owners are giving the greatest rewards to those that earned them. GangBucks will send out
Trigger Point notifications to notify members when they are getting close to a trigger point at a particular
business. This encourages members to make one more trip to the business to gain the greatest rewards.
In essence it is a loyalty discount to the greatest spenders at a business.
Bundle Discounts
Bundle discounts may be used as an add on to other discounts. Basically, it is what it sounds like, when
you buy a "bundle" or group of products or services, you receive a greater discount. This is a great
compliment to a baseline discount. An example would be a restaurant creates a "meal special" where you
buy appetizer, an alcoholic drink, salad, main course, and desert and you receive 25% off entire meal.
It is important to know that most bundle discounts are not added onto the Baseline Discounts.
In other words, in the example above, you would receive the 25% on the bundle instead of the 10% baseline
discount. If you came back to the same business, and purchased something else, then you would receive
the 10% discount.
Gang Discounts
Gang discounts are designed to encourage you to gather your friends and family and head on out
to a business. Businesses, particularly restaurants, love when you bring a large group to enjoy
their fine establishment. So bring a larger group and the owner is willing to offer you a
greater discount. The businesses determine what they are going to establish as a number
needed in a group to unlock a larger discount. Gang discounts are typically not in addition
to the baseline discount. In other words, if a restaurant is promoting a Gang Discount where you
receive 25% off the total bill when you bring a party of 10 or more in for dinner, then you
may not add on the Baseline Discount of 10% to the 25% Gang Discount.
Contests
Contests are a fun way to try to win some big prizes! A contest is definitely an add on
to a baseline discount and is offered by businesses at least a couple of times per year.
Some popular examples would be for a business to have a contest for most business
referrals, most money spent, most frequent visits, most reviews, etc. A business
agrees to give a nice prize away to the top couple of participants. There are a
lot of creative contests that businesses offer on a regular basis, so don't
